Menopause and Me
I found myself unprepared for the challenges of entering the stage of menopause. My journey into this phase began unexpectedly due to an oestrogen-positive breast cancer diagnosis, which led to hormone therapy aimed at reducing my risk of future breast cancer. However, this treatment quickly thrust me into a harsh and abrupt experience, marked by body aches, hot flushes, sweating, fatigue, disrupted sleep, weight gain, and more.
I understand now, the impact that a natural menopause transition has on women. After talking to many women my age (mid-forties), it's clear that hormonal imbalances during peri-menopause and menopause are causing confusion for some. Doctors are often unsure how to address the symptoms, and the information they provide may not be personalised to the individual or many women find it to be misleading. As someone who has now undergone menopause, I had the chance to delve into the role of menopause-related hormones through a thorough evidence-based course. I gained valuable insights into the underlying changes and how they impact our body's functions.
The Menopause training has had a profound effect on me with a powerful desire to guide my own clients towards achievable nutrition and improved but sustainable lifestyle choices.
